Appalachia and the Bush
So our very lame duck Bush has redrawn the boundries of Appalachia to shake some of the poorest folks in our country out of a few more needed dollars. Is this a plot to add a few more Ohio and Kentucky counties to tip the States to his side for the McCain drive for the White House?
It seems a little late in his game to play like this. I guess we will see soon enough if it makes matters worse.

Well, crap.
Not unexpected but still not cool.

Odd that such a big area get such a small amount of money. 87 mil is a bunch of bucks, but that surly is a lot of area to cover. I wonder how much is given when it's divided up?
On a more important note... How's the pumpkin coming?

Re helping the poor without re-drawing boundaries. Capitalism has come up with a foolproof way for the poor to help themselves. Open a bank, give all your money away to other poor people then hold out a begging bowl or wait to get nationalised. This doesn't apply if you owe the bank money of course.
Ka-ching! Buying the vote. And I can testify that two of those counties in Western Maryland and two in the Eastern Panhandle do NOT need more federal aid!
