I wish...dead fish

If wishes were fishes for eating it would not make matters worse.

No sir, I wish I had time for fishing. There goes another wish/fish.

I ain't even sure what kinda fish the picture shows I lifted it from some site where I could not even figure out what country it was from.

Jed my friend, ypour picture was almost certainly taken in England as they're tench. Tinca tinca, a relative of the carp. Found in most parts of England and Wales and a hard fighting fish that grows to around 10 lbs although specimens have been caught up to around 15. My largest is 3.5. They are a well-respected and sought after quarry by many anglers purely because they are traditionally hard to catch when they get larger. We don't eat freshwater fish over here as most of them don't taste too good so they are renowned only for their sporting properties. The tench is known as the "doctor fish" because it is reputed their abundant slime possesses medicinal properties and other fish are supposed to rub against them when ill. So there you go.

Oh yes, they're not dead - because we don't eat them, we catch and return. We're nice people.

Thanks Richard! The site where I saw them had no info of where in the world it was. I guessed Ireland by the sign and I can't find it now. An image search from here had the same photo when I type "tench" but it was a different site than where I lifted it.

Sorry I am not too clear I am suffering a deep feeling of loss lately over something close to my heart.
