Live Strong (in China)

My stepdaughter ordered a LIVESTRONG wrist band near a year ago. It came today in the mail and I was excited and then heartbroken.

The above animation was what I cooked up to cope and tell my story.

I know it was a free item and costs have to be cut as best as possible, but dang. To have that little "Made in China" stamp inside, discounted the message to me. It said America's Hero of mind over matter did not matter enough to use Americans to produce these icons.

The following paragraph contains a small scale story that eludes to the big picture (and it is true).

Jed worked for a man who sold flags and flagpoles, and a few days after 9-11 the U.S. flags were flying off the shelf at a premium price. With this opportunity in his sight, Jed's boss ordered thousands of low quality American flags from China. He had Jed and his peers cut the "China" tags out and told them they would get a good bonus to keep this quiet. Jed and his cohorts were skeptical of seeing that bonus, and sickened at the thought of what they were doing. Well Christmas time came with the same $25.00 Wal-Mart* Gift card (*another grift of American effort) and the boss built a new building on his priviate ranch by the river.

It is the smallest of things that make the largest impact on Jed.

It is funny how that works. The eyes on an image give us a little story in a fraction of a second.

Thanks for linking to me on your site, and all the great input you have given me through your eyes, sir.
